5 Easy Tips to Declutter Your Bathroom

Is your bathroom cluttered and crammed? If so, you’re not alone! Many people struggle with keeping their bathroom tidy and organised, but it doesn’t have to be a never-ending battle. Here are 5 simple tips to declutter your bathroom – try these out and see how much easier it is to keep your bathroom clean and clutter-free!

1. Get Rid of Old Make Up and Expired Products

It’s important to regularly check your make up and products for those that have expired or are getting on a bit! Believe it or not, these products could be doing more harm than good.

Regularly replacing your old cosmetics with updated versions helps to ensure that your skin is getting the best quality ingredients and is also protected from expiring preservatives. Not only that, but getting rid of old makeup also prevents bacteria build up in your cosmetics products so you don’t have to worry about any negative effects. Consider this a reminder to yourself – it’s time to update your beauty look and give those expired items the boot! Also, do you really need all those bubble baths or hand creams? Maybe consider donating any unused ones to charity or gifting to a friend. It’s an easy win to declutter your bathroom products!

2. Declutter Your Towels

Have you ever noticed how quickly towels start to pile up? Even if you’re using them every day, it can feel like a never-ending cycle of bath sheets and washcloths. Now is a great time to sort through those towels and decide which ones you really need to keep and which you can say goodbye to.

While it might be tempting to just toss those old ones in the trash, that’s not necessarily the best option—it’s better to donate or reuse them wherever possible! Donating usable towels is a great way to support your local community and keep some fabric out of the landfill. Not only are donations much more impactful than throwing away what could otherwise be usable, but it also means that someone else will get to enjoy your once-loved linens.

Sorting through your old towels is a great way to declutter your bathroom, and it’s easy to refresh the ones you keep!

Top Tip: You can refresh your old towels by washing them in that pantry staple, white vinegar – simply add 2 cups of white vinegar to your washing machine then wash your towels on a warm/hot wash. Drying them in a tumble dryer with dryer balls can also help resoften your towels, making them last longer.

3. Put Away Anything That Doesn’t Belong

Keeping a bathroom tidy and organised doesn’t have to be hard work! All it takes is a few minutes each day to make sure all items that don’t belong in the bathroom are put away and not cluttering up your space.

This simple step can go a long way towards keeping you organised and making it easier to find what you need when you visit the bathroom. Taking the time to straighten around can also help maintain a sense of peace since nothing feels better than having a clean, neat, and clutter-free environment!

4. Wipe Down All Surfaces

Keeping surfaces clear can be a daunting task, especially if you have a family! By making sure things don’t get left on counter tops, and by choosing clever storage, it’s easy to keep on top of decluttering your bathroom. A clear surface is also much easier to clean, as you don’t have to waste time moving everything off to give it a wipe.

5. Choose Clever Storage to Organize Your Bathroom

Clever bathroom storage makes all the difference when it comes to decluttering your bathroom. Having a place for everything makes things easier to find, and means you can keep items off counter tops. If you have space, you can install shelves for storage baskets. Sometimes there is space over the bathroom door to add a small shelf – this can be wasted space otherwise.

Cupboards and cabinets are a great way of adding extra bathroom storage. I have a vintage display cabinet that I used as a towel store in my bathroom, which otherwise would have no storage at all! It’s also great for storing baskets of products to keep them out of sight. There are lots of options for bathroom storage and organization, so take time to choose something suitable for your bathroom to help keep it clutter-free. Pinterest is a brilliant resource for finding storage inspiration.

A clean bathroom is a reflection of a well-kept home. If your bathroom is cluttered, it can be off-putting to guests and make you feel stressed every time you walk in. Taking the time to declutter, clean surfaces, and add a few personal touches can make all the difference. Once you’ve given your bathroom a refresh, take pride in knowing that it’s one less thing on your to-do list.
