The Sunday Reset: A Simple Routine to Refresh Your Mind, Body & Life

Sundays are a little magical, aren’t they? There’s something about that fresh-start feeling – the chance to slow down, reflect, and set yourself up for a great week ahead. But let’s be real: if you’re spending Sundays dreading Monday, scrolling endlessly on your phone, or just feeling scattered, you’re not alone. That’s exactly why I started doing a Sunday Reset – and trust me, it changes everything.

A Sunday Reset is all about taking care of yourself, resetting your mindset, and getting intentional about the week ahead. No more chaotic Mondays, forgotten appointments, or scrambling to figure out meals. Instead, you’ll feel calm, organised, and actually ready to take on the week.

If that sounds like a dream, keep reading because I’m breaking down exactly how to do a Sunday Reset, step by step.

What Is a Sunday Reset?

A Sunday Reset is a routine designed to help you refresh your mind, body, and life before a new week begins. It’s not just about planning your schedule (though that’s part of it) – it’s about checking in with yourself, practicing self-care, and making sure you have everything you need to have a stress-free, productive week.

It’s a mix of reflection, organisation and self-care, all wrapped into one simple routine that will leave you feeling refreshed and recharged.

How to Do a Sunday Reset

1. Reflect on the Past Week

Before jumping into planning, take a few moments to reflect. This helps you process what went well, what didn’t, and what you want to focus on in the new week.
✔ What were your biggest wins last week?
✔ What felt stressful or overwhelming?
✔ What habits or routines helped you the most?
✔ What’s one thing you want to improve this week?

You can jot these down in a journal, your Notes app, or just think through them as you sip your morning coffee.

2. Plan Your Week Ahead

Now that you’ve reflected, it’s time to get organised so your week feels smooth and intentional.
✔ Check your calendar and add any appointments, deadlines, or events
✔ Write down your top 3 priorities for the week
✔ Plan your workouts or self-care time
✔ Make a to-do list for any errands, calls, or important tasks
✔ Set a small, achievable goal for yourself (even if it’s just drinking more water!)

This doesn’t have to take long – just a quick check-in to make sure you’re not going into Monday totally unprepared.

3. Meal Plan & Grocery Prep

Mondays are so much easier when you’re not staring into an empty fridge trying to figure out what to eat. A little planning goes a long way! I’m a big fan of meal planning and meal prep, especially for lunches as I don’t have a lot of time during the workday.
✔ Plan your meals for the week (even just dinners)
✔ Write a grocery list and pick up essentials
✔ Prep easy grab-and-go snacks (cut fruit, portion nuts, prep overnight oats)
✔ Fill up your water bottle and set hydration goals

If you don’t love meal prepping, even just washing and chopping some veggies or making a batch of rice can save you time later.

4. Reset Your Space

A clear space = a clear mind. You don’t have to deep clean your whole house, but a quick tidy-up will make Monday morning feel so much better.
✔ Declutter your workspace and bedroom
✔ Do a quick wipe-down of surfaces (desk, kitchen counters, bathroom sink)
✔ Wash and change your sheets for a fresh start
✔ Take out the trash and refresh any essential household items

Even just lighting a candle or opening the windows can give your space a fresh, calming vibe.

5. Digital Detox & Declutter

Too much screen time can make your brain feel cluttered, so take a few minutes to reset your digital life.
✔ Clear out your email inbox and reply to any important messages
✔ Delete unnecessary files, screenshots, or apps from your phone
✔ Unfollow accounts that don’t inspire or uplift you
✔ Set screen time limits if needed
✔ Organise your digital calendar and notes

Try replacing some of your usual Sunday scrolling time with reading, journaling, or just relaxing without a screen. Your mind will thank you!

6. Prioritise Self-Care

A Sunday Reset isn’t just about planning – it’s about taking care of yourself. Make time for self-care so you start the week feeling good.
✔ Take a long shower or bath with your favourite skincare routine
✔ Journal, meditate, or practice gratitude
✔ Do some light movement (yoga, stretching, or a walk outside)
✔ Read a book or listen to a podcast that inspires you
✔ Go to bed early so you wake up refreshed

Even if it’s just 20 minutes of uninterrupted “me time,” it makes a big difference in how you feel going into the new week.

Sunday Reset Checklist

✔ Reflect on the past week (wins, challenges, habits)
✔ Plan your schedule, priorities, and to-dos for the week
✔ Meal plan, grocery shop, and prep snacks
✔ Tidy up your space for a fresh start
✔ Declutter your digital life (emails, files, social media)
✔ Take time for self-care (movement, skincare, journaling, or rest)
✔ Unplug and wind down for a relaxing night

Why a Sunday Reset Changes Everything

A Sunday Reset isn’t just about getting organised – it’s about taking control of your week instead of letting it control you. When you start the week feeling refreshed and prepared, everything feels easier. You’re less stressed, more intentional, and ready to show up as your best self.

And the best part? You don’t have to be perfect with this. Some Sundays, you’ll do the full reset, and other times, just a quick reflection and a clean kitchen might be enough. The key is making it a habit that helps you.

So go ahead, give it a try this week – and let me know how it goes! What’s your favourite part of a Sunday Reset? I’d love to hear in the comments!
